Learn about Hartford’s Victorian heyday on this new walking tour of Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The Gilded Age, between 1870 and 1900, gets its name from the title of the popular book by Hartford residents Mark Twain and Charles Dudley Warner.

During the Gilded Age, the U. S. saw unprecedented economic, industrial, and population growth. And the rise of rich industrial cities including Hartford.

The walking tour highlights examples of wealth and materialism. And will explore topics such as industrialization, immigration, and philanthropy prevalent during the time period.

The walking tour begins at the flagpole at the end of the entrance drive.
