Bronze Ornament Preservation

Joseph Hawley Monument

Conserve Art LLC cleaned the decorative bronze scabbard and gloves at the base of the Celtic cross. The conservator added minimal artists’ pigments to enhance the artwork’s sculptural detail. He also applied a protective coating to inhibit future deterioration.

James Laurie Monument

Conserve Art LLC cleaned the bronze portrait medallion and applied a protective coating to inhibit future deterioration.

Thomas Seymour Monument

Conserve Art LLC cleaned two decorative bronze medallions on the Seymour Monument. One a portrait of Seymour and the other portraying Masonic symbols grace the Egyptian-styled monument. The conservator also applied a protective coating to inhibit future deterioration.

Griffin Stedman Monument

Conserve Art LLC cleaned the bronze wreath ornaments on the Civil War sarcophagus. And applied a protective coating to inhibit future deterioration.

Veteran City Guard Monument

Conserve Art LLC cleaned the bronze eagle that tops the Veteran City Guard monument. The eagle was preserved so as to maintain the aged character of the sculpture. The conservators added minimal artists’ pigments to improve distracting discoloration in small areas before applying a protective coating to inhibit future deterioration.
